The Shadow

Who hears the winds whisper inside your spirit on the darkest nights?

Who sits with you when you scream out to the moon, wondering if you’ll ever feel full again?

Who held you close, who held you steady, in the midst of rushing waters?

Who pulled you up out of the crashing waves when anxious thoughts flooded in?

Who coaxed you forward to take one more step when you thought your knees would give and legs cave in?

And when whispers surrounded you and companionship evaded you, who stood by you, fighting for the light of your truth?

Who begged you to push up out of the dirty muddy marshy shorelines and blossom against all odds?

And even before the haze had cleared, and smoke had settled, who believed in your vision, your voice, your story?

Who understands your every discomfort, your ever frustration, your every fear,

and still never doubts that prosperity and protection and peace are all promised?
